Theano Papadaki
Soprano
Theano Papadaki is a Cretan soprano praised for her “immaculate tone” (Plays to See) and “seductively beautiful voice” (Early Music Reviews). She earned the Best Performance award at the 2026 OffWestEnd Awards for her interpretation of Poppea in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (Hampstead Garden Opera, 2025).
This autumn she gives recitals across Greece, including her debut concert at the Athens Megaron Concert Hall, where she will be performing a contemporary music programme for solo voice including Berio’s Sequenza III, Georges Aperghis’ Recitations, Cage’s Aria with Fontana Mix and Bussotti’s Lacrimae. She will also collaborate for the first time with ECHO Rising Star, Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz.
In March 2026 she debuted with Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart's Requiem and a new Requiem by Simos Papanas. She was a prominent soloist in the opening concert of the 2025 Edinburgh International Festival, performing Tavener’s eight hour long piece: The Veil of the Temple with The Monteverdi Choir (★★★★★ The Times).
In 2025 she gave recitals at St Martin-in-the-Fields with Sholto Kynoch (performing folk inspired music from Spain, France, Italy and Greece) and with the Kyan Quartet (performing Aribert Reimann arrangements of Mendelssohn Lieder). Last year she also appeared with Apollo’s Cabinet, performing a staged solo recital of English baroque songs and arias at the Lichfield Festival.
Upon graduation with Distinction from the Guildhall in 2023, Theano was selected by Sir John Eliot Gardiner to join the English Baroque Soloists for Deutsche Grammophon’s Stage+ documentary series A Journey through Monteverdi’s Italy.
In 2024 she won third prize at the International Lied Competition in Görlitz, Germany.
A Britten Pears Young Artist and a City Music Foundation Artist, Theano holds a singing diploma (First Prize, Athens Conservatoire), a violin diploma, and a Masters in Musicology and Music Education (Greece, France).
