Theano Papadaki
Soprano
Theano Papadaki is a Cretan soprano praised for her “immaculate tone” (Plays to See) and “seductively beautiful voice” (Early Music Reviews). She collaborates with instrumentalists and chamber-music ensembles, curating programmes that range from baroque and folk to art song, opera, contemporary and non-classical music.
In March 2026 she debuted with Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart's Requiem and a new Requiem by Simos Papanas.
Theano starred in the title role of Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea for Hampstead Garden Opera’s recent production, earning a nomination for Best Performance at the 2026 OffWestEnd Awards. She was a prominent soloist in the opening concert of last year’s Edinburgh International Festival, performing Tavener’s eight-hour epic The Veil of the Temple with The Monteverdi Choir (★★★★★ The Times).
In 2025 she gave recitals at St Martin-in-the-Fields with Sholto Kynoch (performing folk-inspired music from Spain, France, Italy and Greece) and with the Kyan Quartet (performing Aribert Reimann arrangements of Mendelssohn Lieder). Last year she also appeared with Apollo’s Cabinet, performing a staged solo recital of English baroque songs and arias at the Lichfield Festival.
Upon graduation with Distinction from the Guildhall in 2023, Theano was selected by Sir John Eliot Gardiner to join the English Baroque Soloists for Deutsche Grammophon’s Stage+ documentary series A Journey through Monteverdi’s Italy.
In 2024 she won third prize at the International Lied Competition in Görlitz, Germany.
A Britten Pears Young Artist and a City Music Foundation Artist, Theano holds a singing diploma (First Prize, Athens Conservatoire), a violin diploma, and a Masters in Musicology and Music Education (Greece, France).
