Claire Ward

Claire Ward is a City Music Foundation Artist 2022-2024 and a young artist with Opera Prelude. In 2024 she looks forward to a number of recitals with baroque trio, The Portrait Players, performing the roles of Angelina and Kate for the National Gilbert and Sullivan Company at Buxton Festival and Belinda (Purcell) at Overstrand Festival of Early Music. She was a semi-finalist in both the 2024 International Handel Singing Competition and the 2023 Concours Corneille International Baroque Competition in Rouen. In 2023 she made her solo debuts at Queen Elizabeth Hall with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by John Wilson, and at St. Martin-in-the-fields with The Portrait Players.
In April 2023 Claire joined The Monteverdi Choir as a Monteverdi Apprentice and has since sung in tours across Europe with the ensemble, working with John Eliot Gardiner, Dinis Sousa and Peter Whelan. On stage, Claire has performed at Opera Holland Park in the chorus and in the role of Frantik, in The Cunning Little Vixen. In 2019 she covered the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at The Grange Festival and in the same year sang the role of Venus in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis at the Royal Academy of Music. Claire made her Oxford Song Festival debut in 2019, returning to the festival in 2021. She works frequently with Live Music Now, devising interactive concerts for school and care settings.
