Doriana Tchakarova

Pianist

Doriana Tchakarova is a Bulgarian pianist, Lied pianist and chamber musician based in Germany. She has appeared at major venues and festivals including the Vienna Musikverein, Berlin State Opera, Heidelberg Spring Festival, Oxford International Song Festival, Dresden Music Festival, Musikfest Bremen, Mozartfest Würzburg and Schubertiada Barcelona. Her work has also featured in interviews, live broadcasts and concert recordings for radio stations in Germany, Austria, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovenia and France.

Her artistic partners include: Benjamin Appl, Juliane Banse,  Marcel Brunner, Samuel Hasselhorn, Johannes Held, Äneas Humm, Konstantin Krimmel, Julian Prégardien, Krešimir Stražanac and Eva Zalenga.

Tchakarova has recorded for Alpha Classics, Ars Production, MDG, Hänssler Classic, Genuin, Rondeau Production, and Écoutez Records. Her 2019 Alpha Classics recording of  ballads with baritone Konstantin Krimmel was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards and Opus Klassik and received a  Diapason découverte. A complete recording of Brahms duets with Judith and Felicitas Erb and tenor Magnus Dietrich received three Opus Klassik nominations in 2023. The 2025 Hänssler Classic album Remembrance, recorded with bass-baritone Marcel Brunner, was associated with Brunner’s 2026 Opus Klassik award as “Young Artist of the Year”.

Born in Varna, Bulgaria, Doriana Tchakarova studied piano at the  Hochschule füMusik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart with Fernande Kaeser and Friedemann Rieger, and Lied accompaniment with Konrad Richter. She is a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart and Artistic Director of the PoeMus Liedkunstreihe.
