Emerging Artist: Elenora Pertz

Pianist

The Italian-American Pianist Elenora Pertz specializes in collaborating with singers, both on and off the stage. 2022/23 Season Highlights include performances at Wigmore Hall, Musée d’Orsay, Lied Fest Berlin-Oxford, Piano Salon Christophori and the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing. An avid recitalist, she has appeared on stages throughout Europe and America at venues such as the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Brigitte Fassbaender’s Eppaner Liedsommer, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Snape Maltings. In 2021-22 she was a participant of the prestigious Lied Mélodie Académie Orsay-Royaumont with mezzosoprano Florence Losseau, and released in September Ombres Chimériques together with the other duos (B Records, 2022). Elenora was a semi-finalist of the Wigmore Hall Song Competition (2022), is a prize winner of the Concours international de chant-piano Nadia et Lili Boulanger (2021) and Les Saisons de la Voix (2020), and was a finalist of Das Lied (2019). As an opera pianist and musical assistant, she works regularly in all three of the Berlin opera houses under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Donald Runnicles and Thomas Guggeis. Elenora is the official pianist for the Bundeswettbewerbgesang as well as for masterclasses taught by KS Brigitte Fassbaender, and is on the faculty at the Universität der Künste (Udk). Her discography includes More than a Myth: Lieder and chamber music by Engelbert Humperdinck with baritone Nikolay Borchev (Hänssler Classics, 2021) as well as Aimer à loisir with tenor Kaëlig Boché (B Records, 2021). She holds degrees from Vanderbilt University, Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (MUK) and Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin, all of which she obtained with the highest honors. Her most treasured mentors and teachers include Prof. Wolfram Rieger, Dr. Carolyn Hague, Dr. Deen Larsen and Prof. Susan Manoff. She was a participant of nearly all of the major Lied masterclasses and young artist programs in Europe, including Britten Pears, Franz Schubert Institute, Hugo Wolf Akademie, Leeds Lieder and LIED Basel. A lover of languages, Elenora speaks along with her native English fluent German, Italian and French. She is the founder and artistic director of “Lied the Way e.V.” whose goal is to support female Lied pianists in their creative pursuits.
