Emily Pillinger

Speaker

Emily Pillinger is Reader in Classics and Interdisciplinary Humanities at King’s College London. Her research explores how unconventional communications are represented in ancient literature. Her first book, Cassandra and the Poetics of Prophecy in Greek and Latin Literature (Cambridge 2019), examined the riddling but creative speech of a mythic prophetess. She also works on the intersection of music and classical studies: she has co-edited Music as Classical Reception: Amplifying Antiquity (Oxford 2025), and she has collaborated with contemporary composers and musicians on the creation of new works inspired by Graeco-Roman myth.
