Eugene Asti

American pianist Eugene Asti is an internationally acclaimed collaborative pianist, renowned for his work with singers and his deep commitment to the art of song. He has performed with many leading vocalists, including Sir Willard White, Sir Thomas Allen, Bryn Terfel, Dame Sarah Connolly, the late Dame Felicity Lott, Sophie Karthäuser, Stephan Loges, Mhairi Lawson, Alessandro Fisher and James Newby.

He has performed at major venues including Wigmore Hall and the Barbican in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Symphony Hall Birmingham, the Usher Hall Edinburgh, Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York.

Eugene appears regularly at the Oxford International Song Festival and has devised and curated recital series for King’s Place, Wigmore Hall and St John’s Smith Square in London. Recent engagements have included concerts with Sir Willard White at Wigmore Hall and in Scotland, as well as recitals and masterclasses with leading singers in the UK and internationally.

A passionate advocate for the song repertoire, Eugene has recorded extensively for labels including Hyperion, Harmonia Mundi, Chandos, BIS, Signum and Lawo, and has performed in live broadcasts for the BBC, Radio France and RTBF. In 2009, to mark the bicentenary of Felix Mendelssohn’s birth, he devised and curated a recital series for the inaugural season at King’s Place in London and completed an edition of previously rare and unknown songs by Mendelssohn for Bärenreiter.

Eugene has also worked extensively with young singers, giving masterclasses and supporting emerging artists at institutions and festivals including the Oxford International Song Festival and the Clara Schumann Festival at St John’s Smith Square.
