Freya Holliman
Soprano
Scottish lyric soprano Freya Holliman graduated from the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in July 2020, where she won the prestigious Janet Price Opera Prize and the Seligman Prize for Excellence.
While still a student, she made her Welsh National Opera debut in The Consul by Menotti. This season she performed Alcina in Ensemble OrQuesta’s revival production of Alcina. She was twice a soloist for the annual RWCMD Opera Gala with the Orchestra of WNO conducted by Carlo Rizzi.
Other roles include: Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte (RWCMD), Suor Osmina Suor Angelica (Random Opera Company), Lady Billows Albert Herring (RWCMD), Pamina and Zweite Dame Die Zauberflöte (Fife Opera, and RNCM) and the title role in Dido and Aeneas (Edinburgh Studio Opera)
On the concert platform, Freya regularly performs in oratorio and recitals across the country. Recent highlights include performing Strauss’ Four Last Songs with the City of Carlisle Orchestra, and exploring the American song repertoire in a lunchtime concert for Cardiff Singer of the World. She enjoys working with composers and exploring new song and operatic repertoire. In 2017 she performed Troubairitz by Tansy Davies at the Wigmore Hall, London.
She graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a master's degree and a Postgraduate Diploma. She was a choral scholar at the University of Glasgow where she studied for an undergraduate degree in French and Music with a focus in French gastronomic history.
