Gerold Huber
Pianist
In addition to two solo CDs with works by Beethoven and Schumann, there are numerous outstanding CD recordings together with Christian Gerhaher, all of which have won several awards. Without exception, the jury's reasons emphasise the congenial and symbiotic partnership of this duo. Gerold Huber's extensive discography also includes recordings with Günther Groissböck (Schubert on Decca), Bernarda Fink (Schubert on harmonia mundi France), with Ruth Ziesak (Liszt on Berlin classics, Haydn and Mahler/Zemlinsky on Capriccio, Mendelssohn on AVI), with Maximilian Schmitt on Oehms classic (Clara and Robert Schumann / Schubert Die schöne Müllerin), with Christina Landshamer (Schumann and Ullmann on Oehms classic) and with Franz- Josef Selig (Lieder by Schubert, Strauss and Wolf on AVI).
In September 21, the complete edition of all Schumann songs "Alle Lieder" will be released, on which he worked for many years together with Christian Gerhaher - a co-production of Sony Classical, the Heidelberger Liedzentrum and the Bayerischer Rundfunk. The Sony Calssical recording of Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde in the piano version with Piotr Beczala and Christian Gerhaher was released in May 2023.
Gerold Huber is a sought-after teacher and gives selected master classes, such as at the University of Yale, the Aldeburgh Festival, at the Schwetzingen Festival and at the Schubert Week in the Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin. Since 2013 Gerold Huber has been Professor of Lied Accompaniment at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg and in March 2022 - together with Christian Gerhaher - received a call to the same position at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich.
