Olivia Warburton


Olivia Warburton studied on the Opera Course at the Royal Academy of Music with Caitlin Hulcup, Yvonne Howard and Jonathan Papp. She was a recent prize winner at the 1st International Haydn Competition in Vienna, and won the Alice Gamble and Andrew S Sykes awards for outstanding achievement at the RAM.

Recent operatic roles include the title role in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges and Ino in Handel’s Semele for Royal Academy Opera. In 2018, Olivia made her debut as Teseo at the London Handel Festival under David Bates and La Nuova Musica. Earlier this year, she appeared as Ernando in the modern day premiere of Venceslao at the Halle Handel Festival under Leo Duarte and Opera Settecento. Other highlights on the opera stage include the title role in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at The Grange Festival and Stewardess in Dove’s Flight for the opening of the Susie Sainsbury Theatre at the RAM.

A passionate recitalist, Olivia has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Oxford Lieder Festival, The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace and the Aldeburgh Festival. She is a Samling Artist, a Britten- Pears Young Artist, a member of the RAM’s Song Circle and a graduate of both the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz, Köln (Erasmus) and the Internationale Sommerakademie at the Mozarteum, Salzburg. Olivia has appeared regularly as a Oratorio soloist at venues including St John’s Smith Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Kings Place, and the Royal Courts of Justice,

As a soloist for the RAM/Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Series, Olivia has worked with leading harpsichordists and conductors including Laurence Cummings and Masaaki Suzuki - in 2015 performances in collaboration with The Julliard School took her on tour to the Lincoln Centre, New York; the Boston Early Music Festival and the Bach Festival, Leipzig. In 2017 Olivia sang at the Aix-en-Provence Opera Festival and was a soloist in John Adams’ Grand Pianola Music under the baton of the composer. Earlier this year she was awarded a scholarship to the Georg Solti Academy, Italy where she worked with artists including Richard Bonynge, Barbara Frittoli and Roberto Frontali.

Recent and future engagements include the role of Fox in Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen for RAO, song recitals in Vienna and the U.K. with pianist Cameron Richardson-Eames and performances of Mendelssohn’s Elijah at the Royal Festival Hall, London and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Masaaki Suzuki.
