Sid Ramchander
Pianist
Born in India, Sid Ramchander grew up in Bahrain, and is currently based in the UK. As a performer he has enjoyed a diverse range of musical activity, with concert appearances around the UK, Europe and the Middle East in the form of solo recitals, concertos with orchestra, duos and trios, art-song accompaniment, orchestral piano, and contemporary music ensembles featuring the premieres of new works. A skilled collaborative pianist, he enjoys ongoing partnerships with acclaimed singers and string players, and has been a Samling Artist since 2021. As a teacher, he is passionate about fostering creativity across musical genres to contextualise classical music education. He is the director of the Virtuoso Project, a piano academy based in Manchester.
Sid made his first professional concert appearance as a soloist with orchestra at age 13 with the Belarusian Youth Orchestra at the National Cultural Festival in Bahrain. Shortly after winning the Young Musician Of The Gulf competition, he went to Belgium to study with Evgeny Mogilevsky and Aleksandar Madžar at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, completing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with honours. During this time, he received regular coaching from renowned pianists and pedagogues across Europe such as Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Eugen Indjic and Andrzej Jasiński. Coming to the Royal Northern College of Music as a postgraduate, he completed Advanced Post Graduate Diplomas with distinctions in both Solo Performance (with Richard Ormrod) and Accompaniment (with David Jones), while receiving a number of prizes and nominations for Artist Programmes. For two years he served as a Junior Fellow in Accompaniment at the RNCM.
