51. A Night at The Museum: Benjamin Appl, Graham Johnson, Rowan Pierce, Nathaniel Mander & Prof. Michael Scott
20 October 2019, 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Presented in association with Classics for All
One of the highlights of this year’s Festival is an evening in multiple parts at the Ashmolean Museum. In the Randolph Sculpture Gallery, Benjamin Appl and Graham Johnson explore songs of classical mythology, surrounded by Greco-Roman statues. Upstairs, in the rooftop restaurant, Michael Scott – well-known Classicist and presenter for BBC, ITV and National Geographic – gives a talk entitled ‘Ancient Myths Now and in the Future’. And in the stunning setting of the Mallett Gallery, with the Museum’s famous Kirkman harpsichord, Rowan Pierce and Nathaniel Mander perform songs by Purcell with roots in mythology.
