Paris to Lisbon: Alison Rose & James Cheung
23 October 2018, 1:05pm - 2:00pm
Presented in association with Garsington Opera
We welcome back soprano Alison Rose as a recipient of Garsington Opera’s prestigious Leonard Ingrams Foundation Award. Alison is also a former Oxford Lieder Young Artist. Her programme today, joined by exceptional pianist James Cheung, takes in Debussy’s stunning Proses lyriques – settings of his own poetry – and includes Ravel’s Five Greek Folk Songs. They also perform songs by JoséVianna da Motta, the most important Romantic Portuguese composer, who was one of Liszt’s last pupils and wrote a number of excellent songs to texts in both German and Portuguese.
