Defining love

10 October 2026, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

The society and language of ancient Greece defined love in many forms, and today we still refer to many of these both culturally and linguistically. From concepts such as Eros and Philia, to Platonic friendship, the story of Narcissus and the poetry of Sappho, the influence of Greek thinkers is unavoidable when talking about love. Three leading Classicists explore these concepts, while Valerie
Eickhoff, winner of the 2024 Opus Klassik Young Talent of the Year award, and pianist Elenora Pertz weave music and poetry around the discussion.
