Stephan Loges c Helena Cooke

Winterreise - Weltreise

11 October 2025, 7:45pm - 9:00pm

This programme traces a winter journey around the globe, from Europe to Africa, East Asia and Latin America. Following on from Natasha Loges’s exploration of global song composers earlier today, some of the most familiar songs of all time – those of Schubert’s Winterreise – are heard alongside works by composers from countries including Japan, Nigeria, Syria and Venezuela. The influence of Schubert’s songs was not limited to the Austro-German tradition, and this concert demonstrates an extraordinary dialogue between composers and poets across centuries and continents. Pre-eminent bass-baritone Stephan Loges performs this unmissable cycle of songs with the outstanding pianist Libby Burgess, interspersed with short introductions by Natasha Loges.
