Grieg, Strauss & Berlioz: Ailish Tynan & James Baillieu
28 March 2020, 8:00pm - 9:30pm
Sensational Irish soprano Ailish Tynan and acclaimed pianist James Baillieu give the opening recital of Spring Song in a wonderful programme that includes Grieg’s Six German Songs, Op.48. Setting poets including Goethe and Heine, these masterful songs retain a folk-like quality as they explore the full gamut of emotions. Also included are songs by Wolf (from the Italian Songbook), Duparc and Berlioz, and the concert concludes with a group of Strauss songs.
Following tonight’s concert, the Friends of Oxford Lieder are warmly invited to an informal reception at the Vaults & Gardens Café. To find out more about becoming a Friend and supporting the work of Oxford Lieder, please visit www.oxfordlieder.co.uk/support or email development@oxfordlieder.co.uk
