09. Inspired by Hafez: Michael Mofidian & Jâms Coleman

11 October 2020, 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Scottish-Iranian bass-baritone Michael Mofidian and pianist Jâms Coleman are both former Oxford Lieder Young Artists. Michael, now a member of the Jette Parker programme at the Royal Opera House, and Jâms have created a programme within our day-long exploration of the 14th-century Persian poet Hafez. They include songs by Schumann from his cycle Myrthen (his wedding gift to his wife Clara) that set Friedrich Rückert and texts from Goethe’s West-East Divan, both heavily influenced by Hafez. They also perform translations of Hafez by Georg Daumer, set to music by Brahms.

This concert will be streamed completely live from the Holywell Music Room. Shortly afterwards, it will also be available to watch again (using the same ticket and link) until 1 November 2020. Click here for further information on how tickets will work this year.

This event will be presented by Ian Skelly.
