Magdalena Kožená: Dichterliebe

10 January 2026, 7:30pm - 8:45pm

Magdalena Kožená is one of the world’s best-known singers, having performed with leading pianists, conductors, orchestras and opera companies, and gathered an astonishing array of recordings, awards and honours. We are thrilled that she is able to give a rare UK recital for Oxford Song, as an exceptional opening event of our 2026 Season.

Joined by the acclaimed pianist Malcolm Martineau, the centrepiece of her programme is Schumann’s glorious Dichterliebe, as profound and arresting today as it was when Schumann wrote it in his annus mirabilis of 1840. They complete the programme with Dvořák’s four German songs Op.82 – which include material valued so highly by the composer that he reused it in his famous cello concerto – and a selection of Schoenberg’s raucously witty Cabaret Songs. A stunning way to start the year!
