Spring of Love: Katherine Watson, William Dazeley & Sholto Kynoch
19 October 2016, 1:10pm 04 December 2024 - 2:39pm
Robert and Clara Schumann together set and published twelve poems from Friedrich Rückert's Liebesfrühling . It was this wonderful collection of songs - not often heard all together - that inspired Rückert's touching letter and poem of thanks; 'to my emotions, you once again give wings'. When the collection was first published, they chose not to reveal which songs were by which composer!
Festival director Sholto Kynoch is joined by renowned baritone William Dazeley, last heard at the Schubert Project in 2014 and currently engaged in Opera North's acclaimed Der Rosenkavalier, and one of the UK's brightest star sopranos, Katherine Watson, also returning after a memorable appearance in 2014.
