13. Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann: Christoph Prégardien & Sholto Kynoch
13 October 2019, 7:30pm - 9:20pm
Christoph Prégardien’s recitals are always a highlight of the Festival, with the Guardian describing previous appearances as ‘peerless’ and ‘a revelation’. He and pianist Sholto Kynoch present a first half of Schubert songs, including some of the great settings of Goethe and Schubert’s friend Mayrhofer. They then perform Schumann’s profoundly moving Kerner Lieder, one of the composer’s most personal cycles and the first to be written after his marriage to Clara Wieck.
