Christoph Pregardien 01

The Great Romantics

20 October 2026, 7:30pm - 9:00pm

The great tenor Christoph Prégardien, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, has long been a Festival favourite and has given some of the most memorable recitals we have ever enjoyed. Today, he is joined by the exceptional Finnish pianist Pauliina Tukiainen. Their programme begins with Schumann’s Liederkreis, op.24, one of the composer’s earliest cycles, setting poems by Heinrich Heine. Following a group of songs by Schumann’s great friend and protégé Johannes Brahms, their second half returns to the music of Franz Schubert, music for which there is no finer interpreter than Christoph Prégardien.
